What Is Research Methodology?
Research methodology encompasses your overall approach to research: the philosophical assumptions underlying your study, your research design, data collection methods, and analysis techniques. It's broader than 'methods' (the specific tools you use) because it includes the reasoning behind your choices.
Your methodology must demonstrate alignment: your philosophical position should inform your approach, which should determine your methods, which should enable you to answer your research questions.
Qualitative Methodology
Qualitative research explores meanings, experiences, and social phenomena through non-numerical data. It's ideal when you want to understand 'how' and 'why' questions, explore complex phenomena, or develop new theories.

Writing Your Methodology Chapter
A strong methodology chapter includes: Research philosophy (positivism, interpretivism, pragmatism, etc.). Research approach (deductive vs. inductive). Research design (experimental, case study, survey, etc.). Data collection (participants, sampling, instruments, procedures). Data analysis (specific techniques and software).
